Los Angeles Convention Center, CAWhere photo enthusiasts came to see, touch and try the latest in photography gear; met representatives from the top equipment manufacturers from around the world; learned new ways to hone their skills and take their photography to the next level; and interacted with other photographers.
Highlights:
Beautiful Models, Belly Dancers, Hula Girls, Ballerinas, Famous TV & Film Cars, Darth Vader and Photo Doctors!
Live Model Photo Shoots with Mark Comon in the Photo Shooting Zone and at the American Photo booth which had amazing background and lighting for exceptional shooting
Sony, Samy’s Camera and Sigma all showcased their photography products at the show. Samy’s actually setup their booth just like their retail camera store.
Erin Manning, host of DIY Network’s “The Whole Picture” was one of the headliners at the Education Theater with several fun, easy photo workshops which included “Fun with Green Screen”.
Creative Photo Academy in the Hands-On Zone held opportunities for photographers to interact with instructors and photograph the models seen on stage upclose - like the Belly Dancers, Ballerinas, and Darth Vader.
The Blogger Zone was an excellent area with free wi-fi to relax, lounge, people watch and view the rest of the show sitting down.
The Big Photo Show had lots of great partners that helped spread the word and we were proud to be one of them as a Media Partner while ElephantMan Foundation was fortunate to be Influenza Online Magazine’s Charity Partner.

Fashion Week San Diego

Port of San Diego in Downtown San Diego, CAFashion Week San Diego 2013 will kick off with private events for Sponsors and Designers at Roppongi Restaurant & Sushi Bar in La Jolla on September 30th and October 1st. The rest of the nights will be held in the Broadway Pier, FWSD will be taking it over for five days. Wednesday is the Art & Beauty behind Fashion and marks the beginning of events open to ticket holders. Followed by three nights of Runway Shows October 3rd-5th. The week will end with the Trunk Show on October 6th.
Fashion Week San Diego was formed to showcase emerging designers and their works by being a launching pad for their careers. Highlighting the fashion & beauty industry and the community of San Diego is a key goal of Fashion Week San Diego.

The Big Photo Show’s Seriously Fun Photography Photo Challenge
The Big Photo Show just launched its first national photo contest. It’s “The Big Photo Show’s Seriously Fun Photography Photo Challenge” and they’re seeking entries from photo enthusiasts at all levels from across the US. The contest’s open to anyone 18 and older who love taking pics.
Entries are being accepted online now through April 5, 2013. Online voting for the “people’s choice” winners will take place March 25-April 8, and judging by a panel of three professional photographers will take place in early April. Winners will be announced April 9, 2013. All winning entries, along with many other top submissions, will be on display at The Big Photo Show.
Grand Prize is a free trip for two to Los Angeles to attend The Big Photo Show on May 4-5, 2013, and a SamsungNX20 camera. The IMATS Battle of the Brushes student competitions are some of the most exciting events during the show. For 2013, the beauty/fantasy theme was The Elements, inspired by—but not limited to—the four forces of nature: earth, wind, fire and water. The 2013 character/prosthetic theme was Oz: The Great and Powerful, based on the upcoming movie.
Oscar-winning make-up artist Tami Lane (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) was a keynote speaker for IMATS Los Angeles 2013.
The International Make-Up Artist Trade Show is the make-up world’s biggest gathering. Make-up pros from fashion and film (including Oscar, BAFTA and Saturn award winners) provide education and demonstrations at IMATS, and new products often debut there.
