IMATS Los Angeles | International Make-Up Artist Trade Show

The IMATS Battle of the Brushes student competitions are some of the most exciting events during the show. For 2013, the beauty/fantasy theme is The Elements, inspired by—but not limited to—the four forces of nature: earth, wind, fire and water. The 2013 character/prosthetic theme is Oz: The Great and Powerful, based on the upcoming movie.

Oscar-winning make-up artist Tami Lane (The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) will be a keynote speaker for IMATS Los Angeles 2013.

The International Make-Up Artist Trade Show is the make-up world’s biggest gathering. Make-up pros from fashion and film (including Oscar, BAFTA and Saturn award winners) provide education and demonstrations at IMATS, and new products often debut there. IMATS also features a make-up museum.

The 2012 “Silent River Film Festival” took place at the ‘Edwards Westpark 8 Theater’ and ‘Irvine City Hall Assembly.’ The festival Zen hours (after parties) were be hosted at some of the finest restaurants in Irvine. Opening night screenings were followed by an after party (Zen Hours) hosted by the ‘Bluewater Grill’ in District Tustin. ‘Irvine Marriott Hotel’ once again hosted the festival’s Red Carpet Award Night Gala on October 14th filled with fun, food and live entertainment.

Each year Laguna Art Museum opens its doors for free to museum members and members of the community for its annual open house event. The event features a video montage announcing museum plans for 2013, the introduction of new members of the Board of Trustees, and a presentation recognizing outstanding volunteers. Following the presentation, the museum provides light refreshments and the galleries are open for guests to visit the current exhibitions. Attendees have the opportunity to mingle with the museum’s curators and executive director.

HIGHLIGHTS:

Presentation recognizing outstanding volunteers, including 2012 Volunteer of the Year Dennis Boyer. Boyer led the search for the museum’s new Executive Director Malcolm Warner and Deputy Director Ed Fosmire in 2011-2012.

Light refreshments and small bites which were gone almost as soon as they were served.

Opportunity to view the museum’s current exhibitions Clarence Hinkle, Modern Spirit and the Group of Eight, and ex·pose: peter bo rappmund. Working mainly in film, video, photography, and sound, Peter showed several photographs, along with three films: Psychohydrography, Vulgar Fractions and Tectonics. You almost felt like time’s at a standstill viewing the serene videos.
