The 2013 Vans US Open of Surfing ran from July 20 to July 28. All events were free and open to the public.
There was the surf, skate and BMX action. Vans was proud to present the Van Doren Village and attractions included 100 interactive exhibits, autograph signings, DJs, giveaways, public skate and BMX course, movie nights, and a film premiere.
VANS Pop-Up Store
The VANS Pop-Up store featured product installations outside the store and all the great VANS US Open of Surfing merchandise inside.
I (Heart) HB hats by New Era
New Era gave away the must have hats at this year’s US Open of Surfing. You just had to wait in the longest line ever and get your picture taken wearing it. But worth it.
These were the coolest wristbands ever featured at the US Open of Surfing. The brothers who came up with the straps were actually in attendance at the Zox Straps booth. The only way we found out about it was through the specially made MEDIA wristbands we got with a little surfer on it. They have all sorts of limited edition cool designs on their straps and the website really does a good job of featuring them too.
As one of the event sponsors for VANS US Open of Surfing, FIAT teamed up to celebrate the recent launch of the all-new, all-electric Fiat 500e in California, in addition to showcasing the high-performance Fiat 500 Abarth Cabrio and the all-new Fiat 500L and 500L Trekking models they have the TV commercials for where they announce “The Italians are coming”. These are the 5-door Urban Utility Vehicles. Fans also got a first-hand look at a one-of-a-kind special Fiat 500c “Beach Cruiser” design and a chance to pickup giveaways like Wayfarer sunglasses, beach balls, sunscreen, t-shirts and more.
Bridge to Skate
This is a nonprofit that takes old skate equipment and creates new skateboarders-worldwide! They had a booth setup this year at the US Open of Surfing and two of the kids part of Bridge to Skate were photographed practicing on one of the skate ramps.
Bikini.com models doing hula hoops, Cracker Jack’d snack and Hi-Chew models and giveaways, Kustom Kulture II monster sand sculpture, Paul Mitchell Sun sample products, Kuta Surf models with lounge chairs made out of surfboards, and more.
